"You won't forget me, will you?" I whisper through rustling leaves, For I still recall the bond we shared, and how your spirit grieves. Once, in your tender youth, you leaned against my sturdy frame, Climbing high amidst my branches, in childhood's joyful game.

The sun would dance above, as you savored fruits I bore, Each bite painted your cheeks with joy, a bond forevermore. I thought you'd stay a while, as long as I did well, To rest beneath my leafy shade, in nature's tranquil spell.

But time unfurled its wings, and you soared to greater heights, Crafting synthetic marvels, your mind a sea of lights. Your hand's meticulous touch, a mark on nature's face, Skyscrapers, tractors, planes, and factories took their place.

Amidst your towering feats, I waited, feeling small and late, As your creations circled 'round, sealing nature's fate. Gone were the days of joy, when you'd seek the fruits I bear, And I yearned for those moments, filled with memories so fair.

I miss the days when you'd rest, your head against my chest, Now, my leaves wear amber and gold, my bark is weathered and stressed. Yet, I hold onto echoes of your laughter, days long gone, In my aging heart, a whispered hope, for you to come back, dawn upon.

"You won't forget me, will you?" I plead to winds that sigh,

In my ancient core, you'll always dwell, beneath the vast blue sky,

A cherished part of this world, entwined eternally,
