The day started out with stunning news. The former Prime Minister of Japan Sinzo Abe was shot dead during a campaign speech in Western Japan. Just the day before, the students of NSLC's International Diplomacy program had visited the The Japan Information & Culture Center (JICC) which is a part of the Public Affairs Section of the Embassy of Japan in Washington D.C. Isaiah, who is in his second year of Japanese language studies was devastated by the news. "I never could have imagined that something like this could happen in Japan".

Today, on the third day of the tour, Isaiah's day included a visit to the German Embassy. Tomorrow they will head to the National Mall where they will tour the monuments at night.

I spoke to Isaiah about this trip so far and his general impression of the program. He said, "This has been an amazing opportunity and I am having the time of my life. Following discussion with other students regarding International Diplomacy and National Security, I have reinforced my belief that, though these topics are still of great interest to me, I have made the best choice in pursuing studies in Aerospace/Aeronautics and Astrophysics."

Isaiah is grateful to have the opportunity to do career exploration through NSLC and hopes that he can continue his exploration by joining them again for the Aerospace program in the future.
